BiA doula training is a comprehensive 6 day doula training program with a focus on hands on learning. The program includes a 3 day foundations training, followed by a 3 day advanced training where the student doulas learn alongside experienced doulas and midwives who are keen learn new skills, or refresh existing ones. The training includes internships, mentoring and an online student community. The training takes place twice per year in Amsterdam, and is taught in English. It is open to both Dutch and international doulas.

Biographies of the Trainers:

Jennifer Walker 
Jennifer Walker is an Spinning Babies Approved Trainer, experienced doula and co-founder of JJ Doula Training. Jennifer is currently the Chair of the NBvD (Dutch Doula Association).

Jennifer works internationally offering lectures and workshop on topics related to understanding anatomy and physiology as a basis for respectful and effective care; continuous support of labour; birth trauma and birthing positions. Jennifer’s work often involves creating collaboration and understanding between disciplines. She finds great joy in bringing doulas, midwives, doctors and bodyworkers together to improve care for women and babies.

A doula since 2006, Jennifer was one of the first certified doulas in the Netherlands. She was an speaker at the 2012 Human Rights in Childbirth Conference in the Hague. Jennifer has her HBO diploma in Foundations of Western Medicine. She is the mother of two teenaged sons.

In 2015 BiA Doula Training expanded the team to include Joyce Pula as mentor and teacher.

Joyce Pula
Joyce is a doula, yoga teacher and masseuse. She has extensive experience teaching pregnancy yoga, baby massage and aromatherapy for birth professionals. Joyce is in the Board of the Geboortebeweging and was on the organising committee for the Human Rights in Childbirth Conference in 2012
